Previo a la Ley INRA, cuando en 1990 la \u201cMarcha Ind\u00edgena por el Territorio, la Vida y la Dignidad\u201d arrib\u00f3 a La Paz, el gobierno de Jaime Paz Zamora emiti\u00f3 decretos supremos de reconocimiento a los siguientes territorios amaz\u00f3nicos:
\u2022 Territorio Sirion\u00f3 (Beni); Territorio Moxe\u00f1o y de otros pueblos del Parque Nacional Isiboro S\u00e9cure (TIPNIS); Territorio de los Chimanes, Yuracar\u00e9s y Movimas en la regi\u00f3n de Chimanes (entre Beni y La Paz).
A los que en 1992 se agregaron:
\u2022 Territorio Araona (Norte de La Paz); Territorio de los Yuquis (entre Santa Cruz, Cochabamba y Beni) y Territorio Chiquitano N\u00ba 1 (provincia \u00d1uflo de Ch\u00e1vez, Santa Cruz).
Y en 1993:
\u2022 Territorio Weenhayek (Tarija).
En 1996, cuando se sancion\u00f3 la Ley INRA para el saneamiento y titulaci\u00f3n de las tierras ind\u00edgenas, eran demandadas 32.999.771 has, de las que 21.003.019 has correspond\u00edan a tierras bajas. En los 10 a\u00f1os subsiguientes, hasta finales del 2005, se titularon 8.400.752 has, de las que 6 millones de has correspond\u00edan a Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas Amaz\u00f3nicos, cubriendo s\u00f3lo el 28% de la demanda en tierras bajas.
En el 2006, se promulg\u00f3 la Ley 3545 de Reconducci\u00f3n Comunitaria de la Reforma Agraria, y en menos de un a\u00f1o, se titularon 1.9 millones de has para 24 TIOCs (siendo los m\u00e1s extensos Cavine\u00f1o, Guarasugwe Chiquitano del Bajo Paragu\u00e1, Chiquitano Lomer\u00edo y Lecos de Apolo). El ritmo de titulaci\u00f3n se mantuvo a niveles que implicaron la titulaci\u00f3n de 3.1 millones de has para TIOCs en el 2007, 2.3 millones de has en 2008, y 3.5 millones en 2009.
Hasta febrero de 2011, se titularon 190 TIOCs, por un total de 20.715.950 has, de las que 57.7% (11.946.866 has) corresponden a las 55 TIOCs titulados en tierras bajas; representando un 22.5% de la Amazon\u00eda Boliviana. En comparaci\u00f3n, en las tierras altas (Altiplano y Valles Interandinos), es donde se encuentra la mayor parte de los TIOCs titulados en el pa\u00eds (135 TIOCs).
Cabe destacar que para el 2011, el territorio demandado alcanz\u00f3 a 36.552.883 has para la conformaci\u00f3n de 258 Territorios Ind\u00edgenas Originarios Campesinos (TIOCs). De esa superficie, 22.341.722 has son demandadas para conformar 60 TIOCs de los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas de Tierras Bajas. La superficie sujeta a saneamiento es de 106.751.722 millones de has, y la superficie titulada representa el 19.4% de la misma, por lo que el proceso a\u00fan contin\u00faa.<\/p>\n
