En gran parte de Am\u00e9rica Latina, y en especial en las tierras bajas, asistimos desde hace dos d\u00e9cadas a un proceso de restituci\u00f3n de territorios tradicionales a los pueblos ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n
Ello ha venido acompa\u00f1ado de una serie de cambios jur\u00eddicos con relaci\u00f3n a la tenencia de la tierra que ha permitido demarcar y titular grandes superficies de tierra a nombre de estos pueblos, pero tambi\u00e9n de comunidades negras, extractivistas y campesinas.<\/p>\n
En la mayor\u00eda de los casos se trata de tierras con importantes recursos madereros y no madereros, de gran riqueza en biodiversidad.<\/p>\n
La gobernanza de estos territorios implica un sin n\u00famero de desaf\u00edos pol\u00edticos, sociales y econ\u00f3micos, para los cuales muchas organizaciones y comunidades no tienen a\u00fan las capacidades. Esto ocurre especialmente all\u00ed donde son grandes \u00e1reas, con una gran diversidad de comunidades, asentamientos e incluso etnias, y cuando los modelos tradicionales de gobierno o los modelos que propone el Estado no son los m\u00e1s apropiados.<\/p>\n

Este portal web quiere ser un espacio donde las organizaciones ind\u00edgenas y las instituciones que colaboran con ellas, encuentren informaci\u00f3n sobre los territorios ind\u00edgenas en Am\u00e9rica Latina, materiales referidos a la gobernanza territorial, documentos legales y t\u00e9cnicos sobre la tem\u00e1tica, material audiovisual e informaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica sobre los pa\u00edses que ha priorizado por ahora la Iniciativa: Bolivia, Per\u00fa, Ecuador, Colombia, Nicaragua, Panam\u00e1.<\/p>\n
