\nDe acuerdo al Sistema de Infomaci\u00f3n de Pueblos y Nacionalidades, los Z\u00e1para tienen actualmente un territorio de 380.303 hect\u00e1reas. Constituye un \u00e1rea protegida por su aislamiento, dado que carece de medios de comunicaci\u00f3n y transporte como carreteras, ubic\u00e1ndose al interior de la selva. Se encuentra a 45 minutos de vuelo desde la Parroquia Shell.<\/p>\n

Poblaci\u00f3n
\nEsta nacionalidad corre peligro de extinci\u00f3n, por lo cual en el a\u00f1o 2001 la UNESCO los declara como Obra Maestra de Patrimonio e Inmaterial de la Humanidad.Actualmente son 360 personas, que conforman 23 comunidades:<\/p>\n

        El territorio de la Nacionalidad Z\u00e1para se ubica hacia el Suroeste de la cuenca baja del R\u00edo Pastaza en la Provincia de Pastaza, Cant\u00f3n Pastaza, entre los R\u00edos Corrientes y Pindoyacu ubicados a su vez en la Parroquia R\u00edo Tigre.<\/p>\n

        Su centro administrativo es Puyo.<\/p>\n

        La organizaci\u00f3n que representa a la Nacionalidad Z\u00e1para del Ecuador (NAZAE), creada seg\u00fan Acuerdo Ministerial No 1574 con fecha 16 de Septiembre del 2009; es la Organizaci\u00f3n de la Nacionalidad Z\u00e1para de la Amazon\u00eda Ecuatoriana (ONZAE), anteriormente conocida como Organizaci\u00f3n de la Nacionalidad Z\u00e1para de la Provincia de Pastaza (ANAZPPA).<\/p>\n

        Es una filial de la OPIP que se inici\u00f3 en 1998; pero un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s logra su personer\u00eda jur\u00eddica reconocida por el Gobierno ecuatoriano, con Acuerdo Ministerial 02116, que hasta la actualidad les permite trabajar independientemente en su proyecto. Se ocupa de la recuperaci\u00f3n, conservaci\u00f3n y desarrollo de los elementos territoriales, sociales, culturales, econ\u00f3micos y de la lengua z\u00e1para. Tiene sede en Puyo.<\/p>\n
