La ciudad de Matagalpa es el centro administrativo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Territorios<\/strong><br \/>La extensi\u00f3n territorial de los Matagalpa es de 48.000 hect\u00e1reas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong><br \/>Seg\u00fan el VIII Censo de Poblaci\u00f3n (2005), son 15.240 personas. De acuerdo a la Organizaci\u00f3n Internacional del Trabajo (OIT), en el a\u00f1o 2006 eran 98.000 personas. Se ubican mayormente en el casco urbano (93%) y un 7% en el casco rural; conformando 75 comunidades ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organizaci\u00f3n Ind\u00edgena<\/strong><br \/>A nivel local, en Matagalpa est\u00e1n representados como Comunidad Ind\u00edgena de Matagalpa (CIM).
