\nTambi\u00e9n conocidos como Hokan Xiu, Ocanxiu o Sutiava. Se autodenominan Subtiava, palabra que combina los conceptos de \u201cshuctli\u201d que significa caracol negro, y \u201catl\u201d que significa agua de r\u00edo. Su idioma es el Hokana, y tambi\u00e9n hablan espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n

Ubicaci\u00f3n<\/strong>
\nDepartamento de Le\u00f3n y parte del departamento de Chinandega. El Barrio de Sutiaba, aleda\u00f1o a la ciudad de Le\u00f3n; tiene 49 manzanas. El \u00e1rea rural comprende 23 comarcas.<\/p>\n

Poblaci\u00f3n<\/strong>
\nDe acuerdo al VIII Censo de Poblaci\u00f3n (2005), son 19.949 personas. De acuerdo a la OIT (2006) son 49.000 personas. El 60 % vive en \u00e1reas urbanas y el 40% en la zona rural.<\/p>\n

Organizaci\u00f3n Ind\u00edgena<\/strong>
\nLa m\u00e1xima autoridad es la Asociaci\u00f3n del Consejo de Ancianos del Pueblo Ind\u00edgena, que son elegidos cada dos a\u00f1os. Otras organizaciones coordinan sus actividades con la Junta Directiva, como la Asociaci\u00f3n de rescatadores de la cultura (Adiact) y la Corporaci\u00f3n Deportiva de Sutiava.
\nEn el campo, 13 Comarcas est\u00e1n organizadas con su propia junta Directiva.
\nIntegran el Consejo Regional Pac\u00edfico, del que forma parte el territorio Hokan Siu del pueblo Sutiaba, junto a el territorio Nicarao y el territorio Masaya.<\/p>\n
