Tienen una infinidad de indicadores para ello. Y han desarrollado una serie de pr\u00e1cticas que les permiten \u201cadaptarse\u201d a estos cambios:<\/p>\n La Diversificaci\u00f3n de las fuentes de alimentaci\u00f3n:<\/strong> por ejemplo la comunidad Awas Tara, en el caribe Nicarag\u00fcense, ha comenzado a alternar la agricultura con la pesca. Tambi\u00e9n muchos pueblos han retornado a la siembra de una variedad cultivos, que evita el riesgo de hambrunas cuando se pierde una cosecha. Tambi\u00e9n se han realizado cambios en la recolecci\u00f3n, caza y pesca para aprovechar nuevas especies con fines alimentarios. Pero desde que los seres humanos se volvieron dependientes del uso masivo de combustibles a base de carbono (carb\u00f3n, petr\u00f3leo y gas natural), estamos experimentando un cambio tan grande y veloz en el clima del planeta, que se ha puesto en riesgo la supervivencia de millones de personas. Es que este tipo de combustibles generan gases que quedan atrapados en la atm\u00f3sfera y captan el calor del sol, produciendo el calentamiento del planeta. A estos se los conoce como gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) y el principal es el di\u00f3xido de carbono o CO2.<\/p>\n
La Reubicaci\u00f3n de las viviendas en nuevas localidades menos susceptibles a los desastres clim\u00e1ticos:<\/strong> Por ejemplo en Sahsa (RAAN, Nicaragua) se reubic\u00f3 a varias familias para evitar el riesgo de ser afectadas por un deslave.
Las Estrategias para lidiar con las sequ\u00edas:<\/strong> en Bolivia, los Aymara han comenzado a recolectar agua de lluvia en peque\u00f1as represas que llaman \u201cgutha\u00f1as\u201d, para hacer frente a la sequ\u00eda y asegurar el consumo de agua para las personas y sus animales dom\u00e9sticos.<\/p>\n
Pero cada vez es m\u00e1s claro que los gobiernos de los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s industrializados, no est\u00e1n dispuestos a cambiar su actual modelo de desarrollo, basado en patrones de producci\u00f3n y consumo insostenibles. Las emisiones en estos pa\u00edses no s\u00f3lo no se han reducido sino siguen creciendo. Estos gobiernos proponen que sean los pa\u00edses con grandes superficies de bosques, quienes contribuyan a la mitigaci\u00f3n del cambio clim\u00e1tico, reduciendo sus tasas de emisiones por deforestaci\u00f3n, para lo cual se ha acu\u00f1ado un mecanismo llamado REDD+. Los Planes de Manejo Forestal Sostenible en los que se establezcan \u00c1reas de Conservaci\u00f3n del Bosque, en donde no se realizar\u00e1 tala o aprovechamiento de la madera.
Planes de Reforestaci\u00f3n de \u00e1reas en las que se ha talado \u00e1rboles, y de Forestaci\u00f3n de nuevas \u00e1reas en las que se puede sembrar \u00e1rboles.
Utilizaci\u00f3n de una porci\u00f3n importante del potencial de Energ\u00eda e\u00f3lica y solar, que se encuentra localizada en territorios ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n
Adem\u00e1s, tienen un muy bajo nivel de consumo de combustibles f\u00f3siles, por lo que su contribuci\u00f3n a la emisi\u00f3n de gases de efecto invernadero es muy baja. Son conocidas sus luchas por proteger sus territorios ante todo tipo de amenazas, como las industrias extractivas<\/em><\/strong>, los colonos<\/strong> <\/em>y contra la industria maderera<\/strong><\/em>, que son las principales causas de la deforestaci\u00f3n y degradaci\u00f3n forestal, y que est\u00e1n en el origen de las emisiones de GEI en nuestros pa\u00edses. Por eso se dice, que los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas, tradicionalmente, mitigan el cambio clim\u00e1tico.
Actualmente, mientras el mundo sufre las consecuencias del Cambio Clim\u00e1tico, los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas son una fuente de conocimientos sobre c\u00f3mo adaptarse a ese cambio.<\/p>\n
Estos desastres conllevan la p\u00e9rdida de sus viviendas, puentes y caminos; y p\u00e9rdida de sus bosques, cosechas, recursos marinos, de sus fuentes de agua dulce. As\u00ed desaparecen animales y vegetales que eran utilizados como alimentos y medicamentos. Al perder sus formas de vida basadas en la siembra rotativa, la caza, la recolecci\u00f3n, y la pesca marina, cada vez m\u00e1s ind\u00edgenas emigran de sus territorios.<\/p>\n
Otra consecuencia importante son los desplazamientos territoriales<\/strong><\/em>. Parad\u00f3jicamente, supuestas estrategias de mitigaci\u00f3n del Cambio Clim\u00e1tico \u2013como el reemplazo de combustibles f\u00f3siles por biocombustibles (como la palma africana), o proyectos llamados de MDL que consisten en forestar con pinos y eucaliptos termina desplazando a los ind\u00edgenas de sus territorios, que ven amenazada as\u00ed la posibilidad de continuar sus estrategias de mitigaci\u00f3n al Cambio Clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n
