\nEn ocasiones, se considera a los territorios ind\u00edgenas de Tierras Bajas como tierras deshabitadas o en desuso ya que los Pueblos Ind\u00edgenas ven dificultada la \u201cocupaci\u00f3n\u201d de sus territorios por su baja densidad poblacional. En consecuencia, se ven a menudo amenazados por la llegada de campesinos, ind\u00edgenas venidos desde otras zonas, e incluso de grupos pobres desplazados desde zonas urbanas; lo cual genera impactos medioambientales, culturales y sociales. <\/p>\n

Los procesos de Colonizaci\u00f3n pueden ser planificados y promovidos por el Estado para poblar tierras que se consideran deshabitadas, dando respuesta a la presi\u00f3n creciente de los campesinos por el acceso a tierras, como fue el caso de los Programas Gubernamentales de Colonizaci\u00f3n de la Amazon\u00eda Brasilera durante los a\u00f1os 70-801. Otras veces, se abren frentes de colonizaci\u00f3n al otorgar concesiones a empresas madereras, agropecuarias, y con la construcci\u00f3n de carreteras y obras de infraestructura que facilitan la llegada de colonos. <\/p>\n

Las colonizaciones tambi\u00e9n se producen como consecuencia de los movimientos espont\u00e1neos de campesinos e ind\u00edgenas en busca de tierras para subsistir. Un ejemplo en Bolivia, es el caso de los guaran\u00edes en la Provincia de Guarayos, que desde los 70` se ven afectados por la creciente llegada de colonos Quechuas y Aymaras desde las zonas andinas, quienes han ocupado, invadido y desmontado territorios ind\u00edgenas guaran\u00edes2. Tambi\u00e9n en Santa Cruz y el Chapare, los colonos ingresan desde los 60\u00b4 ante la resistencia de los ind\u00edgenas Yuracar\u00e9s, Trinitarios, y otros, quienes han visto restringidas sus formas de vida trashumante, la extensi\u00f3n de su espacio vital: el bosque; y han sufrido un significativo cambio en el uso de las tierras donde realizaban sus cultivos, que han sido deforestadas y erosionadas3. <\/p>\n

En cuanto a las invasiones, pueden ser realizadas por colonos en busca de tierras, o bien por empresas, como las madereras ilegales en territorios ind\u00edgenas aislados, donde los Pueblos o Comunidades Ind\u00edgenas no tienen acceso a la protecci\u00f3n por parte de las fuerzas de seguridad o la justicia. Un ejemplo es la invasi\u00f3n que sufren los Mayangna Sauni Bas (Comarca Sikilta), en cuyos territorios los colonos deforestaron el 30% de los bosques para la realizaci\u00f3n de actividades il\u00edcitas, como el tr\u00e1fico de ganado robado, el cultivo il\u00edcito y el narcotr\u00e1fico4. \nEn todos los casos, las invasiones y colonizaciones generan conflictos por la propiedad de los territorios ind\u00edgenas y la utilizaci\u00f3n de los recursos naturales, para los cuales, generalmente, los Estados no tienen la capacidad o el inter\u00e9s en asegurar los derechos de de los pueblos indigenas sobre sus territorios.<\/p>\n
